Crazy Thursday

This was the day before the wedding! Phew!!! So crazy!!!
I went to see my brother and his fiance's apartment. This was the view from their window. I could actually see my parent's house from there.

Eniko's (my future sister-in-law) mom and godmother were at our house today a lot helping in the preparations. Here they are cleaning carrots.

Ici----my aunt (mom's sister) She was there today ALL DAY from 7 am till 8:30 PM doing all kinds of stuff!! She was doing the food prep, making tons of beautiful appetizers, and more importantly she was the heart, the motor of the whole operation. Everybody else were too stressed and distracted, but she was focused and kept the team dynamics up with her cheerful and encouraging words!!! Thanks ICI!!!!!!!!!

My mom.... ohh....she was just running around ALL DAY.... all the last minute errands and everybody needed her... and hair appointment and just the responsibility of it all was on her. Both the lunch and the dinner receptions are gonna be at my parents house.

Meanwhile my youngest brother, Mate........ well..... enjoyed a cup of cappuccino!

Today I was mostly busy with the decorations and cleaning.

This is my almost-groom brother, Adam and his future sister-in-law. Her name is also Edina. :)

Here is the bride-to-be (on the right) and her sister.

We got some last minute help too, my sweet cousins!!!! :)

Now its 23:25 at night and I am exhausted!!!
But tomorrow is the big day and I am the wedding photographer (getting cold feet about that) so I better go and get a good night's sleep!
Good night now! :)

So I am in Hungary.

It is Tuesday night already. I didnt want to go to bed until I blog at least a little bit about y time here. I just don't want to forget sweet little details about my days.
You can see all my pictures on Facebook, here I will just highlight a few.

I had a misarable trip to Hungary, I was sick the whole time. I was wearing the hyper-fancy PSI BANDS that Scott got me just before the flight...plus I took dramamine.... they maybe helped, maybe I would have had it worse without those.... God's extraordinary gift to me that I sat alone in a 4-seat row!! So I could lay down on 3 seats!!!! So I did, I pulled a blanket over my head, when they started serving dinner and I smelt the horrible smell, I started gagging...it was that bad!!! So I was laying there squeezing the blanket to my face and just waved to the stewardess to keep going, I dont want any food..... Yuck!!
BUT
I saw BEAUTIFUL CLOUS from the airplane.

My mom and dad. Aren't they cute now!!
My mom and I went to the place where my dad works to say HI to him.
FUNNY: when we got there we saw that he was sitting in his glass booth, so I started waving to him like CRAZY!! Waving Hi and Waving "Come Out Dad!!" I keep waving, he keeps lookin at me, but still sitting there. I was like "What? Come on out!" and waved even harder.....
finally he comes out...except it wasn't my dad!! Hhah!
And I was like: Uugh! Sorry...

On Monday night my mom and I went out shopping a little bit. Just for food. Just for fun.
this picture is in TESCO..... something like MEIJER in Michigan.

Oooohhhh look at all the breads and rolls...... Edina-Heaven!!!

ALDI in Hungary. A VERY nice store. Full of German groceries and products...VERY NICE!!!
Its all glass and they have oodles and oodles of yummy dairy products from Germany!

We took the fast train (InterCity) from the airport in Budapest to home. We got home in about 2 1/2 hours.

The clouds were SO lovely, I took some pics of them on the way home!

Familiar view.... This is what we see when we enter my hometown, Hajdúböszörmény.
A town of 35,000 people. I love it!!! I know every bush and every corner, I love walking on the familiar streets and bump into friends and acquaintances all the time!

Tuesday. My mom and I took the bus the Debrecen, a Grand Rapids, MI size of city about 20 minutes from my hometown. That is where I went to university for 7 years. Buses come and go frequently and its pretty cheap. About 2.5 dollars for an adult ticket.

oh yes, the bakeries. They are literally on every corner. Good and fresh bread, rolls and pastries every day.
When we went in to this bakery this morning I asked for a couple of cherry pastries. Then as she was putting them on a paper plate I asked her if she could pack them separately because we want to eat them as we walk. Well, she wasn't happy, to say the least. I felt really bad for asking her to do that for me actually... after all it is a very hard thing to do. She made a face, and  s l o w l y  stepped aside to grab another paper plate..... then she changed her mind apparently because she just tossed the paper plates in the trash and dropped our pastries in a small plastic bag.....
Hmm.... reversed culture shock? I think yes.

Me with Szabó Lőrinc, great Hungarian poet (dead).

Cute coffee shops everywhere

The NAGYTEMPLOM, or the BIG CHURCH. This is the biggest Calvinistic Reformed Church in Hungary. It is so beautiful on the inside too. Very simple of course, but still breathtaking. once Scott and I went up to the top here the clock is. You can see the whole city from up there.

At the mall. I love the fashion in Hungary. Girls these days wear skinny jeans ALL THE TIME, usually with high heels or the designer sport shoes (good for all the walking we do)
Guys wear skinny jeans as well, and they wear a lot of accessories too: scarves, nice shoes, jewelry, bags..... Oh! and lets not forget about the EURO-MULLET that is still big over here for the guys.
You can see LOTS of street fashion pictures on my facebook.

The EFFENDI GYROS HOUSE...... OMG!!!

It is a middle eastern little eatery.
It was our favorite place with Scott when we lived over here. You get a huge plate of GYROS with all the trimming plus a drink for about 4 dollars!!! I took my mom out there today.... it was just as I remembered. Ohh-so-yummy!!!

I went by our old apartment house today. We used to live here with Scott for about 6 months while I was finishing up my master's degree at the university.
It's the big gate that was ours. :) and the apartment behind it.

There are fruit and veggie stands on the street everywhere. Fresh and local! :)

Oh, this is a LOVELY FEATURE!
All the traffic lights and pedestrian lights have these little clocks with them to tell you in how many seconds it is gonna change. or how much time you have before it changes. I just LOVE that!!!

Tonight mom and I went to visit my aunt, uncle and cousins. We had a fantastic dinner, we chatted and laughed a lot.... just like in the old days! :) He was always my favoritest uncle!!!

Dinner: potatoes and French veggie salad, AND: Boneless chicken tights wrapped in bacon, Breaded Pork tenderloin rolls stuffed with prunes!!! Ohhhhh........ it was so good!!

 Fantastic Coconut Coffee Bars... :)

My uncle's homemade sweet cherry wine.... oh that was a TREAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My Uncle LACI, Aunt Gabi, big boy Barnabas, big school girl DORINA,
and Benjamin's age sweet little REBEKA.

LOVELY.
Stay tuned for more soon.....
