Free parfume and more croissants

My little fox is still sick. He still had the fever today and he was just laying around. His hair is so long, he desperately needs a haircut. Wanna do it tomorrow morning while husband is teaching at an African church in Pescara.
I'm super excited about this little bottle of parfume I got with my €1 magazine today! The fragrance is a little sweeter than what I would usually pick out, but I was pleasantly surprised to find that it grew on me immediately. So refreshing! Love it! ❤️

This is like day 4 of me making these sesame seed  croissants. I just can't stop making them and eating them. They are best with fruit salad or milk. ❤️

Internet is back!!

Yay!! Can't describe the agony that the absence of Internet caused me in the last 5 (!) days!! Seriously!! And honestly I'm not even a junky or anything. I don't even play video games (except an occasional game of CandyCrush). You don't realize how much stuff you do online until all the sudden you are stuck in the sad, sad desert of offline for 5 days. It's not even big things, just looking up a recipe quick for lunch, checking the weather to see how to dress for the day, messaging my mom about something, jotting down memories of the day on my blog, checking up on friends on facebook, watching something on Netflix while cooking dinner or doing dishes ... Just normal stuff.
But hey! I'm here, I survived, enough drama!
But please, Telecom Italia, next time don't send out the bill two months after the payment is due so poor non-suspecting ex-pats could have a chance to pay it before their phone and Internet is shut off. Grazie!
P.S. But I know you will do it again next time anyway

Oh! I cleaned my house today and did all the laundry and made pizza for husband for dinner and cheesy croissants for Benjamin and I, and I also studied Italian today and I re-organized and de-cluttered Benjamin's room.
Naughty things I did: I carried the laundry basket upstairs from the basement and carried a full bucket of mop water. Husband was pretty mad at me (well, just pretended to be) because I wasn't supposed to do anything the sort.
I learned my lesson!
I did!
I overdid it today a little bit but I just wanted my house clean.
Hoping not to wake up with a sore throat again tomorrow morning.

That's husband on the couch trying to get rid of his headache this morning.

Talking stock

We got the day off today white was perfect because i was going to take it off anyway. In the least coupel of days my belly felt so tight and sore. So Scott ordered me to rest and he also danced around me as if I was a princess. He would keep asking me what I needed and brought me drinks and snacks and hot foot bath... He is mine, ladies! ^^)
Lunch was super delish today, I made chicken breast stuffed with ham and cheese and pesto, topped with sour cream and grana padano (very typical Italian cheese). I baked it and made rice and roasted green beans to go with it. Yum. I also made gluten-free walnut bars, Hungarian recipe.
I thought I could do another taking stock today.

TAKING STOCK

Making: gluten-free walnut bars
Cooking: ham, cheese and pesto stuffed chicken with rice and sesame green beans
Drinking: tropical blend tea
Reading: Spiritual Survival Handbook for Cross-Cultural Workers. It's awesome!
Wanting: a personal chef who would cook for us. Breakfast would be on the table by the time we get up, freshly squeezed juice, pastries, egg benedict, scones...
Looking: all pregnant and everything
Playing: Harry Connick Jr. on Spotify
Sewing: need to hem the bottom of some of my curtains
Wishing: it was spring every day
Enjoying: silence, journaling, reading my favorite blogs and hot tea this morning.
Waiting: for Baby PolkaDude to arrive (well, not yet, preferably sometime in May)
Liking: the color RED like crazy
Wondering: how much weight am I going to lose during this pregnancy
Loving: oranges and all kinds of fruits
Hoping: for a smooth delivery in May. No complications please!
Needing: to write an update on our life+ministry
Smelling: the sun, freshly done laundry
Wearing: blue leggings, blue lacey tank top, Paul Frank long-sleeved tee and a taupe furry vest
Noticing: some beauties of the Italian lifestyle (of a little southern hill-town)
Knowing: that God will take care of us
Thinking: about baby boy names. Still no name for PolkaDude
Feeling: tired and peaceful at the same time.

Good food

Antonio, Daniele and Scott went to visit some refugees this morning so I could come home and work from my warm kitchen instead of the chilly office. We tried to use the fireplace in there but it wasn't throwing much heat. All the warmth went out the chimney, we think.
After school we went to pick up Benjamin. The sun felt so warm, I think it was like 16 degrees celsius or something crazy like that. It will warm up even more this weekend.
For lunch I was gonna make Gyros but I wanted Gordon Ramsey's Shepherd's Pie instead. It is an amazing recipe, and very simple too!

Recipe video here: http://youtu.be/OJB3_asB2rc

Ladies and gents, may I introduce to you the amazing, delicious Potato Pizza! Sounds weird, right? I have never even heard of it before I came to Italy but it is truly fantastic. I have been gagging from anything tomato saucey so this is my way of enjoying pizza without the gross sauce on it, hehe.

Thursday | Gyros with Frensh fries and Tzatziki sauce

Saturday | Greek lemon chicken rice soup, crepes
Sunday | Brassói aprópecsenye (Hungarian dish with pork, peas, black pepper and potatoes)

Life in the office. These days: cold. The guys are shopping around for a wood burning stove to get some heat going on in there. The fireplace is out of order, but they might get that one working soon too. In any way, the sun was so nice and warm this morning, that we opened up the office doors and windows to let the warmth in. It was actually warmer outside than inside!
This is out desk, husband's and mine. I covered it with a BATIK, a traditional and hand painted fabric that husband brought back for me from Indonesia. It kind of hangs over weirdly, but I don't care, I don't want to cut it. The desk was too cold without it. You may also notice my red hot tea thermos. Something to keep me warm on the inside. :)
I took this outside the office. You ćan see the sea.
What is this plant? Anyone has any ideas?
At 12:30 I went home to start preparing lunch. Meal schedule said Cheeseburger soup and Apple cake (new recipe). The apple dessert recipe is the most simple, most delicious thing ever!
This was my first time trying it and I must tell you, t'was the best I've had for a long time.
I made it gluten free so husband could enjoy it too.
The recipe calls for only 5 ingredients! Eggs, sugar, flour, apples, cinnamon. That's it.
You don't have to measure it, and you can adjust it and make as big a cake (or in my case, as many muffins) as you like.
The rule is:
You need an equal amount of eggs, sugar and flour in the batter. For example, just for the three of us I made a small batch. I used 2 eggs, dropped them in a mug. I marked how far they filled the mug and I used that to "measure" the same amount of sugar and flour. It yielded 5 muffins.
But if you want to make a bigger cake/ more muffins you simply raise the number of eggs, and measure the sugar and flour to them.
(I'm probably totally over explaining this.)
Anyhoooo... Then chop up a big apple and mix it with sugar and cinnamon. Spoon the (runny) batter into the muffin cups and scoop a pile of apples on top. Most of them will sink in, and I also helped it with a spoon. Just kind of push them down, the batter will rise around the apples anyway.
Preheat oven to 350F /175C and bake for 15-45 minutes depending on what form and how big you are making it. We out whipped cream on top and it was oh so yummy out of this world delicious!!

These two cuties I had just found last night at the Chinese store. They sell a whole bunch of garbage and useless junk, but! Sometimes I can find real treasures! I LOVE Japanese and Korean stationery, notebooks and pens. These are Chinese but in style very similar. And they were so cheap: 90 cents!! Even I can afford that, hehe!
Oh, and by the way, it might or might not give me great satisfaction that this afternoon I cleaned and organized the house. I still had stuff laying around unpacked from our trip to Hungary.

A sunny Monday

This is my morning usually. Sitting at the office writing emails or translating something between English and Italian.
He only had a little bit of homework today so I took my little guy to the park for an hour. He's the sweetest. He always jumps between me and any (stray) dog when he sees one. So protective! My little prince. Love him.

Beautiful Sunday

I love how they cuddle up and snicker together
We knew from the weather forecast that today was gonna be a beautiful day and it didn't disappoint. The temperature was about 66 Fahrenheit (17 Celsius) and it was sunny. We decided to take Benjamin down to the beach after church and lunch. He enjoyed collecting shells and rocks.
It's me reading

Saturday, IKEA, oranges

Husband had the brilliant idea to run to IKEA this morning while Benjamin was at school and pick up a nursing chair for me. My back ha sheen giving me such trouble and last time I sat in that chair at IKEA I didn't want to get up. It was sooo comfy and perfect size for me. Even my feet touched the floor. And that's a FEAT!
Why would they tease me so cruelly... To put this pair of gorgeous shoes on display only to look at is not cool.
I'm dreaming of a nursery....
which I will most likely not have.
Husband picking out...batteries or some such boring items.
It was around 65 degrees today and sunny, I really can't complain.
Our orange tree is in full production. You see orange, tangerine and lemon trees everywhere. It's the season!
Belly shot at IKEA this morning.
The sign originally said BILLY on it but Scott changed it on the computer hehe!
