Doing paperwork, dealing with burocracy is not fun anywhere.
Believe me, I know what I'm talking about. Growing up in Hungary completely prepared me for life. Well, at least as far as "burocracy" is concerned. I'm used to waiting in lines and tearing numbers that never get called (but all the numbers before and after mine), waiting in line for two hours just to see the door shut right when it would have been my turn and to see the "official" walk away for her one hour lunch break... I'm used to the idea that when I go to the doctor I need to clear my whole afternoon because I might be waiting there for hours. I used to read half of novels, write essays for school and crochet whole scarves while waiting. I was used to it, no problem.
Then. I. Moved. To. America. :)
Those of you who lived there understand what I'm talking about. The country of customer service, free refills, purchase returns without questions, taking care of business with a short and polite phone call... I lived in the US for 6 and a half years and I guess I got used to the system there too much that now when I come back to Europe I continually and repeatedly get frustrated over things, over the system or the lack thereof. You can't fight the system because it is untouchable. Little common people like me wouldn't even know where to "touch" it. So all I can do is throw fits and clench my fist and spend endless hours on the internet trying to figure things out for myself.
Can't change it. That's just how it is.
And the sooner I surrender and accept
the sooner I will be happy.
So.
When it was time for us to go to the regional capital to turn in Scott's paperwork for his staying visa I had certain expectations...no wonder.
But you know what? I was pleasantly surprised at the way they dealt with us.
They were very helpful and kind and polite...even when a document was missing they were trying to work around it.... my shaky little Hungarian heart was most pleasantly surprised! :) And ashamed at my prejudice. We got the green stamp on our papers that day THANKYOU!!!!

Now.
Was this just an isolated incident and soon enough life and doing business will return to its normal "difficultness"? Probably.
But I guess I'm learning an important lesson here.
Trust God to walk before you and get things done for you in His time.
Be polite and kind to people and just
go with the flow.
The end.
P.S. I LOVE Italy!!! :)
